Thomas Interior Systems Again Recognized as One of the Best Places to Work in Illinois For the second time, Thomas Interior Systems has been honored as one of the best places to work in Illinois. The company received the 18th place ranking for 2008 and 6th place for 2006 in the medium-sized companies category. Only 20 companies are recognized in this category. The Best Places to Work in Illinois is an annual workplace analysis and competition. Managed by Best Companies Group, the program is sponsored by The Business Ledger, the Illinois Chamber of Commerce and the Illinois State Council of the Society for Human Resource Management (ISC-SHRM). The program was designed to identify, recognize and honor the best places of employment in Illinois, benefiting the state's economy, its workforce and businesses. To be considered for participation, companies may be either for-profit or not-for-profit and either publicly or privately held. They must have a facility and at least 25 employees in the state of Illinois, and must have been in business for at least one year. Each year, large-sized (250 or more employees) and medium-sized (25 to 249 employees) companies from across the state enter the two-part process to be considered for recognition. The first part of the evaluation process includes a review of each company's workplace policies, practices, philosophy, systems and demographics. The second part comprises a comprehensive, confidential employee survey. Best Companies Group then assesses the data with assistance from ModernThink, a workplace excellence consulting firm, in order to determine and rank the top 10 large-sized and top 20 medium-sized companies.
